Job Title: Museum Manager

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Museum Manager at the City of San Juan's New Natural History Museum. The Museum Manager is responsible for the overall management of the facility with increased abilities in sales and marketing.
Major Responsibilities:
Oversees general supervision of the museum during events; supervises and ensures proper daily functions of museum
units including, display/exhibit areas, snack bar, gift shop and small theatre.
Administers policy for daily operation and use of museum and/or all related events; anticipate problems and appropriate solutions. Investigates, analyzes and resolves problems and complaints.
Meets with prospective clients to plan their use of the facility; send client pre-event information and follow-up information that relates to booking.
Knowledge of organization, regulations and procedures involved in operation of museum functions.
Ability to communicate requirements to various clients during events, in addition to utilizing sales and marketing
techniques to generate business.
Manages subordinates in all departments.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Completion of two years of college with major course work related to management with a focus in sales/marketing or equivalent subjects; minimum 5 years experience in a Museum, Zoo, Aquarium or related facility; or an equivalent combination of training and experience which enables the capabilities to perform the described duties.
Experience working in a start-up environment a plus.
Familiarity supervising fund raising events is beneficial.
Maintain effective working relationships with other employees, the public, and clients of the facilities.
May be required to work nights, weekends and holidays.
