We keep growing!!!!!! Savor… SMG is a leader in providing food and beverage services at public facilities across the nation.  We have an immediate opening at our operations in the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center for great Food and Beverage Special Events Manager.

Summary:

Overall planning, direction and execution of Food and Beverage operations off-site special events. Achievement of overall financial goals and objectives of off-site special events.  Assists the Director of Operations (F&B) in operational areas as needed including event or project assignments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work in close cooperation with Director of Operations (F&B) and all other departments to design off-site event proposals and presentations.
• Creates the overall F&B working plan for each special event including: labor schedules, staff training, alcohol awareness program, products and supply ordering, equipment needs, site plan and menu design.
• Directs and Manages the special event plan to maximize established goals and assure Savor… standards are met or exceeded in all areas of the event.
• Serve as the key contact for assigned events.
• Manage all vendor accounts for maximum profitability and quality assurance, coordinated set up of all catering, bars and concessions for special events.
• Initiates procedures to effect the necessary changes in daily service in order to accomplish desired goals while maintaining the established standards of quality and service.
• Investigates and resolves food quality and service complaints for both special events and any other assigned events.
• Reviews special events’ financial transactions and monitors budget to ensure efficient operation, and to ensure expenditures stay within budget limitations.
• Position provides support for food and beverage operations at other SMG food and Beverage operational facilities as assigned, including Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center, Blairfield and Municipal Band.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises 4-8 supervisors.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Savor… policies procedures and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Requirements:

• Must be available to do extensive travel; local, national and international if required.
• Strong logistics and proposal skills a key.
• Alcohol Awareness/LEAD Training
• K’nekt training (Customer Service Training)
• Serve Safe Certification
• Fork Lift License
• DMV clearance for company vehicle/personal vehicle usage
