Florida – Food and Beverage Manager – SMG/Frost Science Museum – Miami, FL

SAVOR… a leading provider of food and beverage services at sports, entertainment and convention facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for a Food and Beverage Manager at Frost Science Museum in Miami, FL. This position is responsible for servicing the Food and Beverage needs for the Café and portable services as well as catering events for the Frost Science Museum by performing the following duties:


  • Build strong relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Interact professionally with clients, guests, other employees and suppliers.
  • Staff recruitment, training and scheduling for Café, portable locations and catering services; includes ongoing training and staff retention activities.
  • Assists in developing work plans including scheduling and ordering, and assigns appropriate duties to subordinates.
  • Ensure successful events by routine and thorough checking of quality control standards, room set up and on-time service with the result of client satisfaction. Resolve any client concerns.
  • Inspects food service facilities to ensure that equipment and building meet requirements of state and local health and liquor laws as well as internal expectations.
  • Participates in menu development and vendor relations.
  • Oversees beverage, disposables and pre-packaged goods ordering and inventory.
  • Directly handles guest related issues.
  • Staffing and station assignments of Café and Catering personnel.
  • Directs activities of supervisors to ensure time management, efficient operation of the Café and execution of events.
  • Analyze and maintain inventory levels to produce an effective cost
  • Responsible for all cash procedures related to events
  • Mentoring supervisors and subordinates.
  • Works with all Managers of the Food and Beverage department to enhance the guest experience on all levels of the facility.
  • Assists with analysis of information concerning facility operation such as daily food sales, patron attendance, and labor costs to prepare budget and to maintain cost control of facility operations.
  • Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manages employees in the Food & Beverage Department in retail and catering operations. Is responsible for the direction, coordination, and evaluation of Food & Beverage staff.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with SMG’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education/Work Experience

  • Minimum 3 years in high volume café/restaurant operations and banquet/catering operations experience.
  • Experience in management of a multiple cost center facility is preferred.
  • Ability to take direction and supervise

  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
  • Excellent problem solving abilities, self-motivated and organized

  • Ability to understand and enforce safety rules and company procedures
  • Computer skills – familiar with MS Office applications, particularly excel, as well as automated Point of Sale systems
  • Experience with Caterease or similar catering software is preferred
  • Excellent aptitude for numbers and familiarity of working with budgets
  • Strong interpersonal skills to deal with internal and external people on all levels
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to handle multiple tasks at a time
  • Good communication, problem solving, organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Excellent customer service and public relations skills
  • Ability to analyze information in an organized manner
