City of Pembroke Pines Picks SMG Partnership for New Civic Center
SMG, the worldwide leader of public assembly facility management, is proud to announce it has just signed a pre-opening and management agreement for the new Pembroke Pines Civic and Cultural Center, set to open in January 2017. The firm was selected over two other proposers after a recent request for proposals process conducted by the City of Pembroke Pines, in Florida’s Broward County. Leveraging their long-standing success and market knowledge at the Broward County Greater Ft. Lauderdale Convention Center, SMG has teamed with the Broward Center for Performing Arts – recognized nationally for its leadership in arts and entertainment as well as its innovative approaches to community engagement. The selection of SMG marks their fifteenth straight win in public bids where SMG was not already the incumbent manager.

Construction has already begun on $58 million project, which is smartly integrated with a state of the art new City Hall Complex, and set amidst the 120-acre City Center development which also includes residential, retail and new hotel projects that will create an entirely integrated new downtown for Pembroke Pines.
The Pembroke Pines Civic and Cultural Center, located in the second largest and fastest growing community in Broward County, is located 20 minutes Southwest of Ft Lauderdale, on Pines Boulevard between Florida’s Turnpike and I-75. When it opens for conventions, meetings, banquets and entertainment events of all kinds in 2017, the Center will offer a total of 30,000 square feet of meeting and exhibit space, as well as staging and seating for entertainment events up to 3,400 patrons.
