Cox Business Center Receives Multiple Awards From Industry Trade Publication

The SMG-managed Cox Business Center, formerly Tulsa Convention Center, was honored with the ConventionSouth’s 2013 Readers’ Choice Award and 2014 Top New or Renovated Meeting Site Award.

This is the third consecutive year the venue received the Readers’ Choice award, which is given to meeting sites that provide exemplary service for group events. Cox Business Center is among 150 convention and visitor bureaus (CVBs), meeting facilities and hotels located across the South to receive this year’s award. Winners are chosen for this honor through online voting by meeting professionals.

“We are honored to receive the Readers’ Choice Award again,” SMG General Manager John Bolton said. “Our team takes a lot of pride in providing exceptional service to all of our guests. To have those efforts recognized by our peers in the industry is a great achievement.”

Additionally, Cox Business Center was chosen by the publishers and editors of ConventionSouth as a 2014 Top New or Renovated Meeting Site award winner for the newly designed concession stands in Exhibit Hall C. The venue is among an elite list of 50 meeting facilities located across the South to receive this year’s honor.

In early 2013, Cox Business Center completed the addition of a new concession stand in Exhibit Hall C. The stand hosts a full kitchen, top-of-the-line appliances, and an exterior ‘café’ area that joins the Maxwell Promenade Gallery to the Tulsa Ballroom. With the new concession features, SAVOR… has expanded their menu from typical concession stand offerings to fresh tossed salads, fresh fruit parfaits, gyros, grilled hamburgers and grilled pesto chicken sandwiches. Additionally, new carpet was installed in the Assembly Hall, multiple sets of restrooms were completely renovated, and painting occurred throughout areas of the facility.

“ConventionSouth readers are constantly seeking information of the newest and like-new meeting sites in the South in order to offer their attendees the most modern facilities available, and this is why we are honored to bestow Cox Business Center with a Top New or Renovated Meeting Site award,” said ConventionSouth Publisher J. Talty O’Connor. “After a lengthy review of what Cox Business Center now has to offer meeting planners and attendees, we feel it indeed displays a superior commitment to providing groups with the top-of-the-line amenities and service they require.”

ConventionSouth magazine is based in Gulf Shores, Ala., and is distributed to more than 18,000 meeting professionals across the country who book meetings held within the South.
