West Conshohocken, PA (June 15, 2016) – SMG, the worldwide leader of public assembly facility management, announces the selection of Andy Gorchov as the new general manager for University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Arizona.

“Andy is a dynamic individual who brings a high level of passion, knowledge and focus to the operation,” said Doug Thornton, SMG’s Executive Vice President of Stadiums and Arenas. “We are excited to have him join our SMG team at University of Phoenix Stadium and expect that he will hit the ground running.”

Gorchov was most recently Project Director for the ICON Venue Group, which specialized in stadium and arena development projects throughout the sports, entertainment and public assembly industry including NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB. His project management team was responsible for the 1060 Renovation Project of Wrigley Field, the 100-year-old home of the Chicago Cubs. The renovation project is a comprehensive multi-year renovation encompassing structural upgrades, new and improved player facilities, fan amenities and development and construction of an adjacent office tower and 300-room hotel.

Before ICON Venue Group, he was General Manager of Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium, in Denver. Prior to that he was the Director of Event Operations and then Director of Stadium Operations.

Gorchov attended the University of Pittsburgh College of Arts & Sciences, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1995. Shortly thereafter he started his career as the Assistant Operations Manager at Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh, PA.

The Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority (AZSTA), which owns University of Phoenix Stadium, selected SMG as its stadium manager, effective July 1, 2016.

University of Phoenix Stadium is home to the National Football League’s Arizona Cardinals and the annual Fiesta Bowl. It has approximately 63,400 permanent seats, expandable to 72,200 seats, 88 luxury lofts (three party lofts), approximately 7,400 Club Seats, two (2) 39,000 square foot Club Lounges, and 160,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space, 20,000 square feet of meeting room space. University of Phoenix Stadium was designed to be a truly multi-purpose facility with the ability to host football, basketball, soccer, concerts, consumer shows, motorsports, rodeos and corporate events.
