JACKSON, MS (September 26, 2013) – SMG, the Worldwide Leader in Convention and Entertainment Management, is proud to announce that the Capital City Convention Center Commission has extended the management contract of SMG to continue managing the Jackson Convention Complex for an additional three years. The new agreement, effective October 1, 2013, also calls for two additional three-year extension options after the initial term.
“The faith shown by the Commission in SMG’s ability to continue management of the Jackson Convention Complex is very gratifying, and is testament to the strong team we have built in Jackson,” said Gregg Caren, SMG Executive Vice President for Convention & Exhibition Centers.
SMG has managed the Complex since its opening in 2009, and the Commission noted the importance of consistency as part of the reason for the contract extension. “The Commission is happy to have continuity in its management team for the foreseeable future,” stated Fred Banks, Chairman of the Capital City Convention Center Commission.
Under SMG’s management, the Jackson Convention Complex has received the ConventionSouth Readers’ Choice Award four years in a row, and client satisfaction ratings over the last two years are at record levels. In July, the Complex was recognized for its commitment to customer service when it received a Certified Hospitality Specialist Property award from the Jackson Convention & Visitors Bureau as part of the annual Hometown Heroes Awards Ceremony.
“We have a very passionate and dedicated team here in Jackson, and we are all so very proud to continue to manage the Jackson Convention Complex,” said Kelvin D. Moore, CMP, SMG General Manager of the Complex. “We will continue to be forward thinking, customer focused and diligent fiscal stewards on behalf of the Commission.”
