(West Conshohocken, PA — October 11, 2016) — In their September 24, 2016 issue, Billboard magazine revealed their list of Top Arena Managers, a ranking of the top 20 venue execs driving the $20 billion global concert industry. SMG is proud to announce that among the top 20 venue executives are three SMG general managers, including AJ Boleski, General Manager of INTRUST Bank Arena in Wichita, KS, Richard MacKeigan, Regional General Manager of Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, MI, and James Allen, General Manager of Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.

The arena executives are chosen for their leadership of the venues that dominate Boxscore rankings in two categories: buildings with a capacity of 15,001 or more, and those with a capacity of 10,001 to 15,000. Allen and Manchester Arena ranked fourth in the 15,001 or more category, MacKeigan and Van Andel Arena ranked fifth in the 10,001 to 15,000 category and Boleski and INTRUST Bank Arena ranked sixth in the 10,001 to 15,000 category. The rankings are based on ticket grosses reports to Boxscore in the first eight months of the chart year (November 10, 2015 through July 18, 2016).

“Rich and AJ are outstanding industry veterans who have contributed greatly to SMG’s success said Doug Thornton, SMG Executive Vice President, Stadiums & Arenas. “This is an honor for each of them that is long overdue.”

“It’s fantastic to see James and the team from Manchester Arena delivering another impressive performance against
a backdrop of a year with considerable content out in stadiums and festivals,” said John Sharkey, SMG Executive Vice President, European Operations. “It once again shows the strength of Manchester as a market and the Arena as a key asset for the UK live touring industry.”

The magazine notes INTRUST Bank Arena’s 5th anniversary and Van Andel Arena’s 20th anniversary and the leverage that provided both facilities to attract some of the bigger name acts, and Manchester Arena’s “do whatever it takes” ap-proach and attitude as a few reasons for their successes.
