N. Charleston, SC – SMG, the Worldwide Leader in Convention and Entertainment Management, and the City of North Charleston reached a long-term agreement to have SMG continue to provide day-to-day operational services to the North Charleston Coliseum, Performing Arts Center and Charleston Area Convention Center for an additional ten-year term commencing in 2011 and running through 2021.

“The City of North Charleston is fortunate to have such world class facilities as the North Charleston Coliseum, Performing Arts Center and Charleston Area Convention Center and our partnership with SMG has been critical in their continued success,” said Keith Summey, Mayor of the City of North Charleston.
The North Charleston Coliseum is a 14,000 seat multi-purpose facility in North Charleston, South Carolina that opened in January 1993. The Coliseum has hosted thousands of events in its history and is also the home ice of the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays. Recent concerts at the Coliseum include Bruce Springsteen, the Eagles, Mary J Blige and Kenny Chesney.
The North Charleston Performing Arts Center is a beautiful proscenium theater attached to the Charleston Area Convention Center and the North Charleston Coliseum. The PAC’s grand opening was August 1999 featuring a concert by Harry Connick, Jr. The 2,300 seat theater hosts an annual Broadway series, concerts and community events. James Taylor, Crosby Stills & Nash, George Carlin and Oprah Winfrey have all performed at the PAC in recent years.
The Charleston Area Convention Center Complex is the largest under one roof in the Southeast. The Convention Center opened its doors in August of 1999 and it houses over 135,000 feet of exhibit space, 25,000 feet of ballroom space, twenty meeting rooms and spacious pre-function and registration areas. The Center is connected by covered walkways to the 14,000 seat North Charleston Coliseum, the 2,300 seat North Charleston Performing Arts Center and the 250 room Embassy Suites.
